UKGRS Win Another Training Contract

UK Global Road Safety (UKGRS) are proud to announce they have been awarded a contract from the Community Transport Association (CTA) to deliver a range of Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) programmes in Northern Ireland. The contract was offered to all MiDAS training agencies, with UKGRS being the chosen supplier.

The schedule starts in September with several Train the Trainer courses, registration for participants in the area is now open.

Managing Director, Kevin Packer said. “UKGRS has been delivering MiDAS programmes for individual clients on an ‘on demand’ basis in the whole of the UK, including Northern Ireland, for many years. Winning this contract demonstrates that the CTA value the high level of training and customer service that we provide to our clients.

UKGRS has recently seen quite an upturn in the demand for the MiDAS courses, from returning and new clients, this is possibly due to better awareness of the need for organisations to provide drivers of minibuses with adequate training. We consider the MiDAS scheme training programmes for drivers of standard and accessible minibuses absolutely essential. Passengers, especially children, traveling in a minibus where a driver has not undergone the correct training are at considerable risk.

The MiDAS scheme also includes fire & evacuation training and a course for passenger assistants (a helper that travels in the minibus to aid the driver, which allows the driver to concentrate on the task of driving), which are also invaluable.

There are a number of laws, rules and regulations around minibuses and driver licence categories that often organisations do not understand, UKGRS are happy to offer help and advise to ensure that driver are driving the minibuses legally and the organisations have the correct permits etc in place”.
